Aged Services

Our Aged and Disability Services support older people and people with a disability to live independently at home and participate in their local community.

RCC’s Aged Services are accredited for the delivery of Commonwealth Home Support Programs, and we are a registered provider for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Our mission is to build a community where our aged clients have a voice, make choices, and make meaningful connections for them to lead an active and independent life in the community.

Our Aged Services facilitate social support groups, in-home support, shopping and medical transport services. We are a strong advocate of the Wellness Approach that focusses on participants’ goals and interests, placing clients at the centre of decision making.

All our Aged Services are funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). The first step to access CHSP is to be assessed by a government assessment service. The details can be accessed through the My Aged Care website or contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.

Social Support Groups Our group programs provide fun and interactive activities designed to develop, maintain and support the capacity for independent living and social interaction. They include our mainstream groups, community outing and

groups from diverse multicultural backgrounds. We encourage opportunities for participants to interact with others and stay active in our venues that are easy to access, comfortable and safe.

Gone are the days of just Bingo! Day outings, café lunches, table games, quizzes, craft, festivals, intergenerational programs, guest speakers, cooking, music and exercise activities are just some of the program activities we deliver. Transport and culturally appropriate meals are provided.

In Home Support Services

Help around the house and garden can be vital to maintaining independence. We provide tailored support options around domestic assistance, home maintenance and home visiting services. Responsive and flexible services may include help with general housework tasks such as remaking beds and vacuuming, weeding garden beds and light pruning, companionship and support.

Our clients are at the centre of the Wellness process. Our trained staff can tackle the tasks that may have become challenging and support clients to complete the tasks they still enjoy doing.

Shopping, Individual Support and Transport Services

Your shopping service, your way! Shopping for our daily needs is an essential part of life. Our shopping service is designed to support our clients to maintain their independence for their health and wellbeing. Whether clients need transport to shops, help carrying shopping bags, pushing the trolley or to decipher food labels, we are here to help.

If the physical demands of shopping are too great, we are able to complete a shopping list.

Transport is more than just taking clients to and from medical appointments. In order to ensure clients can participate in their communities and access essential services, we offer a door-to-door transport service where support workers accompany clients to their medical appointments that can’t be managed through telehealth options, positively contributing to their independence and social interaction.

Client fees

As a not-for-profit organisation, Riverwood Community Centre is committed to providing services that offer value to our clients. Our services are subsidised by the government as a Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) provider, so the fee is less than the total cost of the service. Fees are charged in accordance with government guidelines and they contribute towards the cost of the service.
