National Child Protection Week 2020

National Child Protection Week has come around again, with this year’s theme being ‘putting children first’.

Putting children first means prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children. To grow up well children need to feel safe and loved, have a chance to play and explore, have a say in decisions that affect them, and access to essential things like food, shelter and healthcare.

Here at RCC this is central to everything that we do, and we believe that it’s important for anyone and everyone who works with children to hear, this week and every week.

The colour green has become the symbol for this nationwide week and this afternoon, the children at the RCC OOSHC used green shirts and covered them with messages of hope, reminders to smile and words of empowerment to get involved.

Children are our future, so this week is all about community awareness of supporting and caring for our kids, letting children know that they are valued and speaking up against child abuse and neglect.
