Aged Services in Riverwood Community Centre

Aged services

This Service is funded under the Home and Community Care (HACC) Program. Home And Community Care Services are for people who are frail aged, or people who have a disability, and their carers and are aimed at helping people to remain living independently in their own homes for as long as possible.

Riverwood/Canterbury Aged and Disability Support Service aims to provide emotional, social and practical support and assistance to HACC eligible clients (frail aged and younger people with disabilities and their carers) who live in the Canterbury Local Government Area. It provides these services through a range of different programs.

Services Provided

  • CALD Centre Based Day Care
  • Centre Based Day Care – English Speaking
  • Canterbury Supported Shopping Services
  • Social Support Programs: For Both English Speaking Clients and CALD Clients

Referrals

Referrals to any of these services are generally made by Aged Care Assessment Teams, Social Workers, doctors, other HACC services, or by clients themselves and their family members. Referrals can be made simply by contacting any of the staff at our office.

Client Fees

Fees are a contribution towards the cost of providing the service. All fees charged by Riverwood Canterbury Aged and Disability Support Service are approved by the Riverwood Community Centre Board of Directors and are reviewed regularly. Clients will be given information regarding fees during assessment, or when a request for assistance is made. If a client has difficulty in paying a fee, this can be discussed with the Service Coordinator.

Waiting Lists

Even though people may be eligible to receive a service, sometimes we may not have the resources to be able to help straight away. If this happens we will place clients on a waiting list. We review waiting lists on a regular basis and will let clients know how long they are likely to wait before service can begin. Priority is given to people with the greatest need, to those who live alone and to those who do not have family members to assist them.

Information and Referral

The Service has a large resource library of information and staff can provide information about, and referral to, a wide range of other community services and resources that are available in the area.

Please note: clients who receive a Community Aged Care Package may not be eligible for some of the services described.
