Our Aged and Disability Services support older people and people with a disability to live independently at home and participate in their local community.
We facilitate social support groups, support services and activities and a shopping and transport service. The Centre is also a registered provider for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Our Aged Care services follow a ‘Wellness Approach’ that focuses on participants’ strengths, abilities and goals. This is a responsive model that gives greater choice and control over services, placing clients at the centre of decision making.
Volunteers are critical to the success of our programs. They are the backbone of many of the services we provide and, as many are bi-lingual, they help us extend our services within our multicultural community.
As our Aged services are funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Program, clients must first be assessed by a government assessment service. The assessment details can be accessed through the MyAgedCare website, as shown below.

We support Social Support Groups to meet weekly at a number of locations across the Canterbury Bankstown and Georges River areas. Our groups give older people the opportunity to meet others who speak the same language, share their cultural background or share a common interest. They celebrate cultural events, share their culture with others, learn more about Australia, and participate in outings.
We deliver home visiting, domestic assistance, home maintenance and community outings services that extend the assistance that we provide older people in our area. These are delivered by our staff together with a team of volunteers who bring their own skills and experience to the services.
Our shopping and transport services help people who need find it difficult to independently travel to the shops or to meet important appointments. Our services offer help through our staff and volunteers at a range of levels, so that clients remain in control, but are assisted to undertake the tasks.

Client Fees
Fees are a contribution towards the cost of providing the service. All fees charged by the Aged Service are approved by the Riverwood Community Centre and are reviewed regularly. Clients will be given information regarding fees during assessment. If a client has difficulty in paying a fee, this can be discussed with our Service Coordinator.
