Riverwood Community Festival

The Riverwood Community Centre and the Georges River/Riverwood Rotary Club who are coordinating the Riverwood Community Festival are looking for stall holder, entertainers and activities for this year’s Annual Riverwood Festival.

The Festival is held around the new wetlands and recreation area, which was opened in conjunction with Festival Celebrations last year.

It a wonderful site for the Festival.

The first Riverwood Festival was held in 1980 on the Riverwood Estate between the high-rise buildings of Jefferson and Lincoln, maybe you were there.

It began as a children’s festival and was held on the 3rd Saturday of October each year in conjunction with International Children’s Week celebrations.

It’s location was changed to the Community Centre grounds in 1985 and as it had continued to grow in size and popularity the Centre ask for the help to organise and run it from their local service clubs.

It was in 1986 that an alliance with Georges River-Riverwood Rotary Club was formed and that the Festival become a major annual event in the community. The Festival is the only the only fund raising event that the Community Centre hold each year with funds raised being returned to the community through its services and programs.  But more importantly it is seen as an annual celebration for the people of Riverwood. Today,

it is still seen as a family day with a focus on activities and entertainment for children at affordable prices.
