Support

Youth Service
The Service caters for the needs of local young people aged 10 to 24. We conduct
sporting, recreational and educational activities, holiday programs, homework
assistance, as well as advocacy, information and referral on issues related
to education, employment, housing, health and family. Read more about our youth centre.
GirlZone weekly group for young women 12-18. Variety of activities in a safe
and comfortable environment, (joint project with CSA Service)
Links To Learning Program
Students At
Risk
The program runs during school terms for High School students. It is a 'Links
to Learning (program funded by the Department of Education and Training. This
program aims to build self esteem, social skills, and to support regular school
attendance with a focus on literacy and numeracy.

Child Sexual Assault Service
Provides short, medium and/or long term therapy for children 0 to 18 years
who have experienced child sexual assault.
Support given to non offending parents or significant care giver.
Advocacy, court preparation and court support are also offered.
Housing Communities Assistance Program
This service works directly with residents of the Housing Estate, providing
opportunities for tenants to have a say in their housing and community. These
include: the Estate Advisory Board, Neighbourhood Committees, the Community
Garden , Peace Park and the newspaper "Inside Riverwood".

Central Sydney South Regional Tenants Resource Service
The service provides an information, referral and advocacy service to public,
community and Aboriginal housing tenants and applicants in 11 local government
areas. The Service's main focus is tenant participation. It aims to provide
tenants and tenant groups with opportunities to participate in decision making

Aged And Disability Support Service
A Home and Community Care funded service for frail aged, younger people with
disabilities and their carers who need additional support to enable them to
live comfortably in their own home. There are two programs, both providing
information, advocacy, and referral. The Neighbour Aid Program also offers
emotional and social support, including day care groups (including Arabic,
Vietnamese and Mandarin speaking), Centre Based meals and Carers support and
information. The Canterbury Shopping Service provides regular fortnightly food
shopping with transport and volunteer assistance.
Community Counselor
Offers free generalist counseling services, two days per week, to individuals,
couples and families in a safe and confidential environment. Appointments necessary.
Leisure Learning
Operates every Tuesday during school terms, offering a variety of craft classes,
with child care available for the morning session.
Other Centre Activities
Community information. Recruitment and support of volunteer workers. Student
placements.
Fundraising Activities
Car Boot Sale held in the Centre Car Park on the third Saturday of every month
(except October). Small fee charged for space.
The Riverwood Festival
The Community Event is Held annually. Entertainment, Rides, Stalls, Op Shop,
